While boilerplate Estate Planning documents will be adequate in many peoples’ situations, I spend extra time with my clients to personalize their plans so their wishes are realized in writing. This may involve creating a trust for their kids that will disperse funds to them upon reaching certain milestones in adulthood, or creating a trust for a four-legged family member, or even drafting letters to loved ones to be read upon the client’s death.
These types of details can involve many exchanges of calls or emails to brainstorm the content of a plan, but I embrace this because I know how important details can be to a family when a loved one becomes incapacitated or passes away. Just like you, I want my husband, kids, and pets to both be well-cared for and make a smooth transition into the next stage of life should something happen to me and/or my husband.
Perhaps I should call it a Worry Free Plan instead of an Estate Plan because I will remain in touch with you each year after you create your Plan to assist you with making any necessary updates. So don’t hold back on life – get that boat or cabin you have been eyeing, or take that international trip – because I’ll help make sure you don’t outgrow your plan as you change and grow through life.
